Eliott Cherry was born and raised in New York City, where he was trained as a composer and cellist. He moved to Maine to be closer to the sea. "When I discovered the joy of holding my cello in the baroque style," he says, "I knew there was no going back!" He recently wrote a monodrama with music (A Finished Heart) that expresses the end-of-life care he gave to his husband of sixteen years. Currently, his main focus is on touring with this work as performer, and playing early music.
