Bass John David Adams joined St. Mary Schola in October 2010, singing the role of Plutone in Monteverdi's Il Ballo delle Ingrate. A versatile artist, he is acclaimed as a concert soloist and praised for his portrayals in diverse opera and stage roles. He studied voice and opera at the Hartt School of Music and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, establishing his music career in California, and later returning to New England where he enjoys a busy schedule of performing engagements. As a soloist his concert repertoire ranges from the cantatas and oratorios of Bach, Handel, and Haydn to premiers of new works, appearing with orchestras and choruses on both coasts of the United States, including the San Francisco Symphony, Berkeley Symphony, Berkeley Lyric Opera Orchestra, Marin Chamber Orchestra, Arlington Philharmonic, North Shore Philharmonic, White Mountain Bach Festival, Maine Music Society, Oratorio Chorale, and Masterworks Chorale, among others. His stage credits include roles withOpera Boston, Granite State Opera, San Francisco Lyric Opera, PORTopera, Apollo Opera, Berkeley Opera, and New England Light Opera to name a few. He has performed professionally with the San Francisco Symphony Chorus (including three Grammy award-winning recordings), and the Sanford Dole Ensemble, San Francisco Bach Choir, and San Francisco Chamber Singers in California; as well a being a founding member of Aureole Chamber Ensemble and Vox Nova Chamber Choir in Maine.
