Larry Jackson has been a conductor of bands for 22 years. He received his Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst in 1987 as a trumpet major, where he also studied voice. He received a Masters degree in Conducting from the University of Southern Oregon, Ashland in 1997. Over the past 22 years Larry has directed bands grades 5 through 12 in Sanford, Acton and most recently in Falmouth where he has 200 middle school band students grades 5-8. He has also been the guest conductor of honor bands in music festivals in districts I, III and IV. Larry has directed church choirs and was the guest conductor of the Maine Gay Men's chorus in 2006. Personally, Larry gets his musical "fix" by performing in choruses. Since he has been in Maine Larry has sung with the Choral Art Masterworks, singers and Camerata groups and in addition to St. Mary Schola he is presently a singing member of Renaissance Voices, an a capella small group of singers based in Portland and he occasionally sings with the Maine Gay Men's Chorus.
